Freeze

One of my fondness memories of being in the service is when we were in the field in the middle of winter. It must have been twenty below zero that night and the whole Battery was bedding down under one massive tent with several kerosene stoves blasting. It was really cozy with all the guys together, cracking jokes and telling stories. It was like one big brotherhood. I never felt so safe and secure amount men of different races and backgrounds, it was like we were family gone camping.

Many years ago, on the night before the new year, I had just gotten clean and sober. I was so grateful, I felt a need to give back, so I decided to venture out and patrol the streets to assist people who needed it.
That night, I assisted many and was feeling good about myself,so I headed home. I was driving East on Madison Street, somewhere around Western, when I heard what sounded like a cannon blast, I saw ahead of me, smoke and debris in the air.
Heeere I come to save the daaay!
Somebody ran Straight into a light pole in front of what would be the United Center. The car was wrapped around the pole like a cartoon, and the pole hadn't moved an inch!
I pull up to the scene as the passenger was opening his door. A boom box fell to the pavement. I looked in through the passenger's side and saw the steering wheel was distorted. The driver must have a crushed chest.
What the fuck happened, the driver was asking as he was turning the ignition.
It's not going to start, I said!
The engine was almost in his lap!
A passing bus driver said he would call the police and an ambulance.
Why we need the police, someone in the car moaned.
At that time, someone they knew or someone on the same page as the injured, wanted to know what had happened.
The driver started spinning some tale, the passerby then looked at me and angerly yelled, why you run them off the road!
I looked at him, like Really!!?
The driver corrected him.
They started speaking more silently and I saw the driver slip a gun to the passerby which disappeared under his clothes and he slipped off into the projects.
An ambulance showed ;no questions were asked ;it was obvious what had happened.
One of the paramedics was hard balling my car, probably to see if there be fresh damage.
The injuries were such, that the paramedics needed another ambulance, so another arrived and we all loaded the injured into the first ambulance and off they went, leaving me along as the New Year approached.
What the hell was i thinking!
I honestly believe I wouldn't do that today!
How things change!

Badly

Some people feel justified in treating badly someone who has mistreated them. I have the tendency to over react, treating that person more kindly, not because of fear, but because of an understanding or sense of what is being covered up in their lives . If that doesn't work, I usually end up staying away from that person, but showing no ill will.
I'm not saying this because I think it's a good quality, and maybe it is, I'm just trying to explain how I work, hoping I'm in line with the nature of other human beings who don't react to others in kind.
I don't believe this is some kind of coping maneuver but a light into who I really am.
I guess what I am really trying to say is, there's a lot of ugliness out there that doesn't have to be.
There's too much thinking going on!
Thats just have fun!!

Centipede

I saw this movie called The Human Centipede. (I believe there are several version of it going around).
This version takes place in Germany were a surgeon who was expert in separating Siamese Twins, decides to do a little experiment of his own and ends up attaching three human beings together, like a centipede.
The idea fascinates me! What a great horror premise! The whole idea is absolutely absurd, and I love it!
For what reason would you do it, Herr Doctor!?  Simply, because I can!
In my opinion, this movie is what horror is all about.

Passing

A coworker and friend got off work one Saturday, got home, sat down and died. His family thought he was sleeping.
Just like that, he was with us no more!
I thought, how merciful it was for him to pass while looking like he was sleeping; apparently he was not in any pain and this gave his family some peace.
It's funny, because I thought I'll be passing before him, because of my inactive lifestyle and unhealthy eating.
How strange it is, you just never know!

Dad

Is Mr Obama such a great family man!? I am in agreement, from this side of the fence, he looks like he's taking care of business, but without being a roach crawling the floors of the Whitehouse, who can really know!?
How many times have you seen on the Evening News a reporter standing on the front lawn of the murder house interviewing a neighbor...
Reporter : sir, what do you know about the husband who murdered his family inside this house.
Neighbor: I'm really surprised, ain't never thought he'd do something like that! Real quiet guy, never bothered anyone I know of!

I hope someone's checking on Michelle and the girls!

Joy

Since we have been made human and put on this planet, given the circumstances of our lives here, we should never have the experience of sadness or any other negative emotion, simply due to the fact we were made free and allowed to be as we choose, yet most of us aren't truly happy and I can see why.
Our thinking gets in the way of our happiness. We believe in our thoughts too much. We believe our thoughts are real and act upon them. This messes with our natural ability to be joyful and puts us in a dark place.
If only we could forget ourselves for a moment and redirect our lives to the service of others. This would be the beginning of uncovering the joy we were born with from our thoughts.

Marriage

I have never been comfortable with the idea of marriage and I could never really say why.
About six months ago, I ran across this passage, "Marriage is a divine celebration of what already is! "I feel that statement in my soul!
Technicality, we're all in a kind of marriage already, whether we want to believe it or not! A piece of paper from the State just blesses the obvious.
I can say to any woman, make me some eggs women, and she would do it, because of the love that we are!

We don't need no stinking papers!

Cursing

I grew up in a home that didn't use profanity. To this day, I can't remember a time my mother or father has used it!  In those days, it was a big deal , especially for kids to curse, I'm not saying it didn't happen, but it was not the norm. I still don't curse as a rule, but I can understand that a certain profanity can say it all without expounding.
I do use profanity around certain people I know or if I'm extremely angry, which is seldom.
I think the point of using profanity is to make another feel lowly and unworthy, but I see it as a statement made about the person using it!
Profanity is intended to make people feel uncomfortable and I think, to mask what a person is really about.
People curse so much these days, its almost considered mainstreamed.
Sometimes, it's just not appropriate (or is it ever)!

CSIs

What I don't get about all the csi shows is, are the crime scene investigators cops or scientists... Both perhaps!?
Are there real csi who do what television csi do!?
Somehow it doesn't seem right, especially when they question suspects.
They are not sworn peace officers, they are civilian employees of that certain law enforcement department. (I guess you can be a sworn civilian employee).
In real life, I'm not sure they have the authority to hold or question a suspect or even carry firearms.
I know it may not bother most people but it keeps me irritated!

Whitney

Whitney Houston was a star, but foremost she was a human being and it bothers me how the news media goes around asking her fans which of her songs did they like...REALLY!!!???
Sure, I know her stardom is because of her music, but it seems to me a bit tacky in light of her sudden death to be asking such questions.
Why don't we all take a step backwards and practice the language of silence.

More of it

It's curious that when you try to stop something, the more of it shows up.

I'm trying to slow my eating to lose a couple of pounds... Smaller portions, thirty minutes of exercise ect, ect!
People just keep leaving me meals, and I don't want to say no! I have had many a special moment savioring the cooked goodness of another's efforts.
Why does food taste so good!
Oprah would say, I'm trying to fill some hole inside, and maybe, that's right!

Pulled over

The doctors tell me I need to lose weight. In an effort to accommodate them, I have choosen to bypass any fast food restaurants and proceed straight home to make my own meals. This is a nuisance and probably not much better than stopping and picking up a quick dog, being l know not how much better I am at preparing my own food.
Anyway, since I ceased my trolling for quick food, I don't travel the side streets anymore; I take the expressway, and I see EVERY night that the State Police has someone pulled over like it's part of some kind of master plan! Every night after midnight along that same corridor...!? Is it possible, thats when the violators show up, or are they just randomly stopping people?
If they are just randomly stopping people, my turn is quick approaching!

Good deeds

Isn't it interesting when someone dies, everyone starts giving acclaim to all their good deeds. It makes me think, wouldn't the deceased had wanted to hear all the praise while they were still alive!? Oh, I'm sure they were told how appreciated they were while they were still with us, but never to the same volume of their death!
Give me mine now, while I'm still walking around!

If I'm famous and marry an unknown woman, why does that make her famous! She's just my wife, it not like she has been infused with all my abilities.

Bound freedom

When you can predict what someone is about to say or do, you've got to start wondering how free they are and how much suffering they are causing. Sometimes it seems like they're following a script of some kind, or imputed with limited programming! And here I thought we were free to do what ever in each and every moment! Why bind yourself in repetitive habits!
I wish people would stop judging and let go and stop worrying what others think!

Habit

When you get in the habit of doing something, it usually is because of the conditions at the time of creating the habit. You keep doing it without being conscious of it, and sometimes you out grow the habit without realizing it!
For example :   My rear lights on the car felled to come on when I applied the switch. The switch, which is in the dashboard, had to be replaced, which meant that the dashboard had to come off! The car had to stay in the shop for a couple of days, which left me without a ride home.
Immediately, I start figuring out which bus routes would best suit me.
When it came to me!
I don't have to ride no stinking buses! Now, I can afford to take a taxi!
As simple as it may have seemed, at the time, it was a true revelation to me.
It hadn't accured to me, now I have choices!
I am free!

Tiny

One frustration in life is trying to work with something tiny and dropping it to the floor! It never ends up where you think. A massive search must be started to find the wee thingy! You may find it hours later in a spot you would not of thought of like, your own pocket, in your sleeve or shoe, across the room under something, or in a crack.
The ones that mystify me the most, are the ones in plain sight unseen by the first search! You look so hard, you miss it right in front of you!
